Whitetail Rattling
Larry Ramsell of Illinois believes calling big bucks is a confidence game. It'll work, but hunters have to build enough confidence in it to make it work. "Pull out the big rattling antlers for big bucks," he suggests. "Mature, massive antlers that sound big are your best bet. You may be calling a buck that's a quarter mile away from you. It's going to take him a little time to get there. He knows exactly where you are located."
"I've turkey hunted for thirty years, I know you've done a lot of turkey hunting," he says. When you sit down and call, whether it's a tree opening, getting him to gobble and come back at you in the morning, or whether you're in the afternoon locating, he knows right where you're at. It's the same way with big whitetail bucks, they may not know what tree you're in, but they know where you're at."
