Get Physical For The Season (Video Included)

According to Outdoor Answer’s Jim Carbaugh, being physically fit before the season begins can add to your hunting success. Watch his video and then read below about the details.

“I’m sure you have big plans of heading to the great outdoors this season, climbing across rugged terrain and landing a huge trophy,” he notes. “The question is do you have the endurance to make that long trek and the strength to haul that trophy out of here?”

“With 70% of the 12 million hunters being over the age of 40, physical preparation should be as important as remembering your rifle. Outdoorsman and women are putting themselves at risk by not getting into shape.”

He continues, “A pre-season fitness program should include working your heart, lungs, and muscles several months prior to hitting the field. This can be as simple as placing a backpack on your back and hiking 45 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Begin by carrying a pack that weighs 1/10 of your body weight and gradually work toward ¼ of your weight.”

“Other activities to consider include weightlifting, swimming, jogging, and biking. Always consult with your doctor prior to beginning any new exercise program.”
