April 1, 2008 (Nashville) – Stunning video of some of America’s most scenic and undisturbed places can now be seen online at MyOutdoorTV.com, thanks to a new agreement between the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the world’s largest online network of outdoor programming. MyOutdoorTV.com announces the launch of U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service videos today in its “State Explorer” section.
Many of the videos, available for FREE on-demand viewing at MyOutdoorTV.com, were produced as part of the federal agency’s America’s Wildest Places series, featuring some of the 547 national wildlife refuges and demonstrating the diverse wildlife-dependent recreation uses of these areas. Agency-produced videos on wildlife habitat management, conservation of rivers and fisheries, migratory bird patterns, climate change, introducing children to the outdoors, and numerous other topics can also be viewed on the site. New videos will be added regularly.
“These videos were designed to document the diverse program and activities of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service,” said Elizabeth Stevens, the Service’s Assistant Director for External Affairs. “This partnership will use the state-of-the-art communications technology of MyOutdoorTV.com to help the Service reach a much broader audience with its video productions.”
Among the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service productions appearing on MyOutdoorTV.com are videos of national wildlife refuges throughout the country, from Alaska to the Caribbean. Every state has at least one refuge, and the entire refuge system comprises 97 million acres. Recreational uses offered on the refuges include hunting, fishing, wildlife photography, wildlife observation, environmental education, and interpretation.
“We’re pleased to be able to make this federal agency’s video content more easily accessible for viewing, absolutely free to the public,” said Chris Moise, CEO. “The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has access and resources to create come incredible video in the country’s wildest places, and we’re certain our viewers will appreciate having the opportunity to see it on-demand.”
