Salt Lake Bees and Utah DWR Team Up to Bring America's Favorite Pastimes Together

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's Triple-A baseball team, the Salt Lake Bees, and the Division of Wildlife Resources have teamed up to take baseball fans' affinity for boating and fishing to the field.

A promotion offered by the team and the agency features a sweepstakes to win a Lowe ST 175 boat with a Mercury 50 ELPTO motor, trailer, fish finder and trolling motor.

Funded by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), the promotion will run through July 20. In addition to the chance to win a boat, the promotion includes humorous fishing and boating videos, between-inning games, an ongoing "Fish or No Fish" game and other prizes, such as a fishing trip with Salt Lake Bees players and free giveaways.

"Our baseball players and many of our local fans have a natural love for boating and fishing," says Brad Tammen, Salt Lake Bees' assistant general manager. "This is a perfect partnership. Who doesn't want to come watch great baseball, play some fun games and possibly win a boat?"

The promotion, which minor league baseball teams in more than 30 states are embracing this summer, is an effort by the RBFF to help increase participation in boating and fishing nationwide.

"Last year's promotion was a huge success, and we're making it even bigger and better this year," says Robin Thomas, DWR marketing coordinator. "Baseball, fishing and boating are three of America's favorite pastimes. We're thrilled to work with the Bees to bring these pastimes together."

Details about the sweepstakes are available at wildlife.utah.gov/news/08-05/bees.php.
