SPRINGVILLE, TN (The Outdoor Wire)- Garry Mason, Founder and CEO of the "Legends of
the Outdoors" National Hall of Fame, announced early Friday morning
that Alex Rutledge of Hunter's Specialties, Larry Weishuhn of Thompson
Center Arms, Tommy Akin, Public Relations Director for Avery and Strike
King, Pamela Martin-Wells, leading money winner of the Women's BASS
Tour, Larry Nixon, 1983 Bassmaster Classic winner, Steve McCadams,
Outdoor Writer/Professional hunting and fishing Guide and Marion
McCollum, Owner of Macks Prairie Wings will be inducted into the
"Legends of the Outdoors" National Hall of Fame during the Annual
Induction Ceremony to be held on August 17, 2007 at the Sheraton Music
City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
The "Legends of the Outdoors" National Hall of Fame Induction
Ceremony will be the 6th Annual event, where men and women who have
made an impact and considerable contributions to the outdoors and the
outdoor industry have been honored. "The Legends of the Outdoors"
National Hall of Fame, has been established to recognize those outdoor
sportsmen and sportswomen who, through countless hours of hard work and
devotion to the outdoors, in both hunting and fishing, have played an
integral part in setting the standards and guidelines for the rest of
the outdoor world to follow.
Nationally known hunting and fishing guide, Garry Mason, saw a need
to recognize those who have contributed to the outdoor sports of
hunting and fishing. Mason put together a committee of outdoor writers
and others to nominate individuals who have dedicated their lives to
the outdoors. Thus, the "Legends of the Outdoors" National Hall of Fame
was created. The "Legends of the Outdoors" National Hall of Fame
Induction Banquet is unique and one of the only places on earth that I
know of where you can meet people like Ray Scott, Hank Parker, Roland
Martin, Forrest L. Wood and many other former Legends inductees and
have an opportunity to visit with them one-on-one, get autographs and
have photo opportunities with each of them.
The inductees of the "Legends of the Outdoors" National Hall of
Fame reads like a "who's-who" of some of the most famous people in the
outdoors. During last year's pre-banquet meet and greet time, I meet
Forrest L. Wood, Ralph McDonald, Pat Peacock and many others, including
my old pals Hank Parker and Ray Scott.
This year's event will again be held at the Sheraton Music City in
Nashville Tennessee on August 17th. The doors of the Convention Room
will open at 5 P.M. for the pre-ceremony time of meet and greet, and as
usual there will be a number of former Legends celebrities there to
attend the festivities. A wonderful meal will be catered again this
year and the meal will begin at 6:30 P.M with the induction of the new
Legends nominees following.
Legends Inductee from 2006 fishing legend Hank Parker will be the
guest speaker at this year's event. This year's guest entertainer will
be country music entertainer, Kevin Blake Weldon.
As in every Legends banquet in the past, the sponsors of the event
will have displays inside and outside of the Convention Center with
representatives of their companies on hand to provide information about
the products displayed. A silent auction will be on-going as well as a
live auction after the induction ceremony. Many unique items will be
auctioned, including a one-of-a-kind hand carved "Legends of the
Outdoor's" National Hall of Fame duck decoy by Nebraska Master Wildlife
Carver, Mr. Ron Cleveland.
For tickets to the "Legends of the Outdoors" National Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremony, sponsorship information and to make reservations
