Catfish Stinkbait Rig (Video Included)

Wade's World Fishing: Dip bait is a commercial catfish bait that comes in paste form in a plastic tub container. Dip bait is very pungent-smelling and is manufactured in a variety of flavors: shad, cheese, blood, etc. It is called dip bait because of how it is used. A special dip bait worm is the basis of this rig. The 1 ½-inch plastic worm has molded rings around its sides. It is rigged with a treble hook and stout line that is threaded through the worm for easy attachment to the main line. This worm is rigged as a simple float rig. Here is how to tie a dip bait rig.

  • Purchase a selection of dip bait and dip bait worms.
  • Run a sliding egg sinker up the line from the end.
  • Tie a snap swivel on the end of the line.
  • Clip the loop of monofilament on the dip bait worm into the snap swivel.
  • Attach a float at desired length point on the line (above the sliding sinker).
  • Lay the worm in the bait container, and use a pencil or stick to push the worm into the dip bait. Make sure the worm is well covered with the pasty mixture.

i personally dontlike dip bait but wade is a smart man but my uncle has caught catfish in th70 - 80 pound range and dip bait is how you catch little catfish once a catfish gets about 20 pounds or so they start going after fish not little commercial dip baits BUT dip bait is great for getting good eating size cats( 3-10 pounds )

Never seen one rigged that way but I suppose it would work. With the invention of many of the newer alternatives for keeping dip bait and sponge bait on the hooks dip worms and tubes are becoming more and more obsolete.
