Coyote Hunting Made Easy
Realize that wind direction determines success or failure, and always hunt into the wind. Once you know where you want to hunt, look for openings where you can see the coyotes coming from 50 to 100 yards away. Also, search for a productive blind site where you can set up a portable blind or build a natural blind. If you use a portable blind, make sure you have brush available to put over the front of the blind to keep from having a solid one-dimensional wall of camouflage.
On the day you plan to hunt, sneak into the place that you want to call from, set your blind, put brush around it, set out a decoy, turn on your electronic calling device, and prepare to shoot.
When you hunt coyotes, you don't have to stay in one place for very long. You can make four to six setups in a morning and the same number of setups in the afternoon.
In a day of coyote hunting, you can hunt from 8 to 12 different locations and cover quite a bit of country. Female coyotes usually have a home range of 5-8 miles, with the male's territory 30-40 miles in size.

No problems there.
Where about do you plan on hunting them?????
I am working the waterloo region with great success.
what kind of rifle should i use?
do i need a blind?
do i need a call?
what are other things i NEED for a succesfull hunt?
I have never used a blind and probably never will. They are too much to carry. My favorite hunting areas are in Eastern Washington, Idaho or Nevada. I like to lay on the edge of a ridge and call into a sadge brush area. However I have successfully called coyotes in a lot of areas by simply sitting tucked back into a brush patch with an open area in front and/or to the left of it. I like an open area to the left also so that I can swing my rifle without changing my body position.
Unless you are very very patient you will need a call. I have had equal results with a hand call and an elecronic call. My favorite electronic call is a Foxpro 6. I can set it up and move to an area where I can easily see it and then turn it on remotely. It is deadly!
I have used a 17 Remington, 22.250, 204. 25.05, 257 Weatherby and a 12 gauge all successfully on coyotes. I just purchased a R-15 and think that it will be fantastic in the open desert areas. As you can see, any rifle 22.250 equivalent or larger will work well.
Buy some camo, including a face mask, get a call (unless you have a lot of money start with a hand call), if you do not know what type sound to make get a hunting coyotes cd and listen to it, call softly at first, if nothing comes in a few minutes pick up the sound. Call about 20 -30 seconds and wait a couple of minutes and repeat. I find that most coyotes will come in within 20 minutes. With any luck you will have a new hobby that will stay with you your entire life (I am 60 and still loving it. In fact when I retire in 2 years every coyote west of the MIssissippi should experience a little touch of fear.
Good luck
